What is CrossFit?

“In 100 Words: Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.  Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, Clean and Jerk, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds.  Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.  Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow.  Routine is the enemy.  Keep workouts short and intense.  Regularly learn and play new sports.” – Coach Greg Glassman

About Jess Wood

CrossFit kids has changed my life. In 2009 I graduated college and found CrossFit as a way to stay fit after the excitement of college athletics had ended. I had no idea the impact walking into that box would have on the rest of my life. I graduated college with a degree in Exercise Physiology, continued on to being a personal trainer and certified strength and conditioning coach. Fast forward to 2013 when I attended my CrossFit Kids certification. I was enjoying coaching adults classes after becoming a L1 (now an L2) but when I came home from training and started coaching CrossFit Kids I felt like I had found my path. This is what I was meant to do. I love seeing these little balls of fire walk into their first class shy then see a growth of exceptional confidence after just one month of classes. Self confidence is the most important to me. I want kids to see fitness as FUN. I love that we can have a top athlete next to a beginner and both are going to show tremendous achievements through attending our program. I’m a lucky lady, I have a loving husband, a beautiful daughter AND I get to play with kids for my “job”.
